Cat converters are causing the engine
light to go on. My 1999 A6 with 242K miles needs to pass inspection. My Audi dealer told me to check out the after market cat converters. I was told by the after market dealers that the non-oem cats will not get the engine light to go off which means I cant pass inspection. New Audi cats are $800+ each. Anyone have a work around?? Thanks

What brand of after market did you use? A buddy of mine works at a local Midas and he told me after installing cats on 2 Audi's the engine light still remained on. Also how much did you pay for them ? Thanks for the response..Much appreciated!

First, please try to post your response in the correct location within the thread (check out threaded view).
I used Connecticut Cat and bought a bolt in solution. It took about an hour to install. Is your Midas pal sure that the cat was the cause of the CEL?

Actually, I do not think that will work. Readiness code will not be set....
...if it is not set, they cannot pass the car. If you drive the car enough to get the readiness code set, the CEL will likely come back.

Thanks you for you input..I may have to bite the
bullet and go for the new cats since I dropped so much $$$ into the car so far. I drive 210 miles daily. The rest of the car is fine..I appreciate your responses
