Cabin Heat
On cold New England days with the heat off, I nevertheless get engine heat into the cabin ; the driver's side vent is warm as well as the plastic parts around and near the passenger side floor vent ; even the plastic around the radio in the center dash area is warm ??
Does anyone have any suggestions ???

Re: Cabin Heat
I've had this problem with other cars, but not my A6. This is probably because I leave the climate control on auto all the time.
In my other cars though, the heat would come through the vents at the last temp that I set it at, even when turned off.
Try this: turn on the heater, set the temp to 69 and then turn it off again. The heat will should stop coming through the vents.
Good luck

Is it heat, or just warm air? Even with the heat off, teh coolant still goes into the heater core..
which means you have 200+ degree coolant IN the same area as teh other air... It's almost impossible for all of that heat to stay put in the heater box. Also keep in mind, the HAVC draws it's 'fresh' air from under hood, so the air is already pre heated a little by the engine heat.

squirrely climate controls
I've had similar problems. hot when I want cold. cold when I want hot. it's not b/c I'm a polack either....it'll be hot then just blow cold/cool air. shutting it off and waiting seems to 'fix' it but it blows that an Audi performs this way. I'm most annoyed when I can't get cold air in the winter time (I'm a hot blooded individual) setting the temp to "LO" and turning on....when I don't want the wind noise from opening the windows.....anyway, interested in anyone's suggestions too....
