A/C Diagnostic channels & trouble codes?
#4
Seem quite different...
First, on the A6, the DTCs are 5 digit numbers, and even if I ignore the decimal point placement, they don' t correspond to that table.
Second, the channels that I previously accessed on my A6 dual climate control did not match a table I found in the Audiworld tech section for codes on the single CC for the 1st gen A4. I'm still looking for a table of channels in the manual....
BTW, what does C4 refer to? Is that the 1st gen A4? That site seems to focus on the 12v engine, rather than a platform.

I finally accessed the codes..
in the same way as was described for older dual climate controls - by pushing "recirculation" and "UP" arrow together, and listing the channels by "+" and "c" (at this, it showed "c" in the left side display and the channel number in the right side display) and calling up information from a particular channel by pushing "recirculation" button. The info displayed looks like this - a one-digit number in the left-side display (mostly 0, 1 or 2) and a two-digit number in the right-side display. What could be these?
In particular, I am trying to find out why the radiator cooling electric fan never works, though it is very hot here, and why the A/C does not cool properly when the car does not move with its engine on? They have no scan tools for Audi here, in Armenia.

Attn Everyone: Audi diagnostics via A/C
Folks,
If any of you have the descriptions of diagnostic cannels (88 channels!!!) and related trouble codes accessible via Climate Control unit for Audi A6 1998-2002, please share. These are different from those used in older Audi A/Cs that could dsiplay 61 channel. I am surpsised at note being able to locate this great feature on Web.

Re: Attn Everyone: Audi diagnostics via A/C
My '98 A6 just started showing the same symptoms. I ran the VAG-COM tool and it shows two DTC's.
01841 - Potentiometer/Actuator for Temperature Flap: Left (G220)
30-00 - Open or Short to B+
00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
31-10 - Open or Short to Ground - Intermittent
I haven't received my Bentley CD yet so will have to wait and see if this is something that I can take care of or if I need to take it in.
