Paging 4D4 considering the valve body issue:

regarding the plugged sensor input screen…do you think an ATF fluid and filter change should include pulling the valve body and checking for this screen plug?
Perhaps not if the transmission pan is a LOT more clean than his was, LOL.
Tried PM but your box is full…..

What is all involved in pulling the valve body? Special tools, lift, cash etc.? Awaiting insurance adjuster and getting ready to tear into this project…

Normal hand tools…it comes off once the pan and filter are off. It looks like you have to remove the solenoids from the valve body first. I'd look at the Bentley manual first….or check with a ZF service manual.

Yes..the thread was busted…going back a few days it started when the OP hit something in the road and it busted his transmission pan. It seems reasonable to argue that replacing the pan and fluid should involve a filter change and valve body examination/screens clean.
