Brake pad DIY replacement..........any tips?..............
Wifes 04 A6 3.0 needs front pads. Rotors are fine. Any tips for changing them? Can I push the pistons back enough to get the new pads in? TIA

I generally release the bleed screws on the caliper...don't push fluid back up.
Of course most people just push the pads back.
Check/clean/lubricate the caliper guide pins. However, an 04 shouldn't have any guide pin problems. Our 2000 4.2A6 still had lubrication on the rear caliper guide pins at 125K miles. I lubed them anyway.

Note: neither is exactly your car, but brakes should be similar enough that these tips will work.

https://www.audiworld.com/tech/wheel2.shtml
