ok i didnt check code on tranny but i but I remembered thet on a old tranny input speed sensor is ben located on valve body but on a new tranny is been located on a tranny not on a valve body but i put down thet sesnor and valve body and put my old sesnor and valve body can this been thet why is car in a limp mode or? what are my options to do now anybody ideas? do i have some options or pot down new tranny and find same tranny like oldone..or what are my option to make sure what is wrong i am mechanic but i am not very good whit automatic tranny..becose i from europe there are just manual tranny hehe )
What i got is your replacment trans has the sensor in a different location. Thats your whole issue. You put the wrong transmission in. Theresa 3 digit code in the trunk on a sticker which will be somthing like DTP or EKX and you HAVE to use the same code or this happens. Theres nothing to be done, except pull the trans out and put the right one in. They may fit and look about the same and be from an a6 but that doesnt mean it will work.

Man im sorry, but that is sooo hard to read. Just slow down and take a minute to write and then reread it to make sure any of it makes sense.

Check this:

And then compare to the tranny you got as a replacement.

Ok so the trans code will be on a sticker in the spare tire well in the trunk. There is a green plate near the bellhousing on the very bottom of the transmission that will also have this code stamped in it. O1V is the transmission model. The version of it is indicated by the code. for your year its going to be DTP or EKX.

Hey, my friend! I have a question for you. I have a 99 a6 quattro and it seems that my forward gears are very sluggish . Reverse works with no problem. It drives but takes forever to build up speed. Do you think this could be a clogged tranny screen or screwed up tranny? I checked the fluid and it was blackish brown color. Any info would be greatly appreciated
