Default Am I a bad person for turning brake rotors?

They were just within tolerance, I mean .001. Yeah that close. I really didn't feel like shelling out big money for new rotors, but can anyone tell me how much I should be able to find them for? I'll be needing new ones next time I need to do rotor work.

It's finally nice here in Nebraska! I'm celebrating by changing brake pads, turning rotors, and putting on some fresh rubber for the M5. Still looking for a buyer on that one. Just picked up a set of S4 wheels and tires too! What awonderful time it is!

Default If you're not a hard braker, then you shouldn't have any problems until the next pad replacement....

FYI, my '98 Dodge Ram 1500 PU still has the original pads and brake shoes with 88,000+ miles on them (and they are not worn out yet). I'll be doing the brake service this spring or summer, but it does demonstrate that your braking style does affect the longivity of the braking system.

Default "big money" for rotors? Coming from someone with an A6 and an M5? C'mon...

ATE/Zimmerman rotors are only about $75/each in the front and about $60/each for the rear.

Around here, it costs $15-20 per rotor to have them turned so that cuts into any "savings".

Personally, when it comes to safety-related items, I don't take any chances.

Cheers,

No. Just did my rears for $10/ea. They were severely warped, and turned (no pun intended) up great.
