Aftermarket HU question. I really hate my concert.
First off, I know most of you on the C5 forum are OEM HU or have upgraded to the RNS-E, but I'd appreciate any info on an aftermarket HU and what problems you've encountered with the radio cover door. Doesn't seem like there is much room for anything. So I'm wondering what others have done.
Current conditions are:
My OEM concert HU tape is broken. CD changer is broken. I want to listen to my ipod (I know about icelink), I want CD in dash. I'd really prefer bluetooth for the phone integration if I "have" to talk while driving.
I'm pretty much non functioning right now, and It's looking like my needs are for an aftermarket HU.
I'll post on the Audio forum also, but wanted to post on the C5 forum first since we all have the radio door in comon and not all Audio Forum readers are C5.
Any comments or pics would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Personally, cheapest way I think is to get a donor Concert radio and do the
icelink. If you choose the Symphony upgrade, you will have to change the rest of your center panel as the ash tray is mounted lower. Bottom line to go that route, $$$. To me, the only advantage the Sym. has is the ability to load a single CD from inside the car.

not interested in symphony. Double DIN.
More than anything, I'm looking for input about an aftermarket HU and the radio door clearance.

I'm not sure what it stands for. But it referrs to taking up a single space or twice that . . .
space in the dash.
Concert HU is 1 DIN
Symphony HU is 2 DIN
Nav units are 2 DIN
My '99 only has enough space for a single DIN unit without major modifications. PITA, although lots of people do it on the B5A4 forum.
