Yep, that's what I've heard
We have a couple of good old boys here at a local shop who have done some excelent and reasonable exhaust work on my trucks and neighbors cars, had the daughters car there for the resonator hanger repair and they pointed out the mini holes in the flex pipes, the tech said the only way to weld the top is to drop the pipe, and thats labor intensive. Might just replace the down pipes with the E-bay site from Canada. Thanks 2.7Lturbo

Yes...had it done on my old 2.8L ATQ Passat....same process would hold here. The issue is finding some place with the skills to do it. Bought the flex units from Exhaust Direct in Canada and my shop cut the old ones and welded in the new without unbolting the pipes from the exhaust manifold. Cost me like $80 or $90 in labor for both.

I had 2002 A6Q and Meineke didn't lower it, just cut and weld back a new flex pipe in. Doing one side takes 45 mins. 1 year warranty. Cost $200 (parts&labor) you can online download coupon $20 to lower price to $180 before tax.

took one to the local custom muffler shop. 1 hr and $80 later it was replaced. they just cut the old out and spliced in a new one. i think their pipe was $40 and another $40 for labor.
