The lower cup holder on my 02 A6 Q 3.0 has been sticking and operating slowly for some time, I thought I would give a shot of silicone spray to get it working better. After spraying it, I lowered it and now it seems to be stuck in the down position. I have pulled on the top as hard as I dare, pushed down and attempted to pull it up, all to no avail, any ideas or tips?

you can lift up the tranny console surround and push up the mirror control. After removing the mirror control you will have access to pushing up the cup holder to remove it. My cupholder broke the stay tab that keeps it down, so i dissassembled it and removed the spring. Now i can close it and it stays closed or push the opposite side and open it. If you have alot of dried coke (the drink) making it stick, soak the holder in hot soappy water for 15 minutes and clean. HTH

Thanks for the info, I was able to lift it up, unit now works freely except for a slight catch as it nears the lower position.
