Default In 5th gear...

When I am rolling in 5th gear I sometimes notice the tachometer bouncing up and down. It seems to only happen in 5th gear... I thought it was just from the tranny up shifting to early but I noticed it tonight on the highway.

Any ideas?

May be the torque converter clutch coming in and out.

Default tach bouncing w/o engine rpms changing is instrument problem.

Or some other electrical gremlin.

Did you feel any difference in drivability or is it just the needle bouncing up and down?

Default Indeed. I would check the cluster and crank sensor (or cam sensor, depending on

which one Audi uses.)

Default Agreed as well

Try the cam sensor, I had that issue too.
But I replaced my o2 sensors too around the same time so in my opinion it could be either or.
the rpm would slowly go up and down a notch at low rpm 5th gear but speed would stay the same. Not an issue anymore tho. purrs like a kitten now, and roars like a tiger too if i let the rpm go alittle higher
