Default 50k Service

Heya,

I just called up the local Audi dealership and asked to schedule my 50k service for my 04 A6. The audi rep told me that there is no 50k service and to call back when i'm at 55k.

I haven't looked in the manual yet but I thought for sure the maintenance was at 5k intervals. Any info would be great... thanks.

Default Well, the service writer is actually right...

The service intervals were changed from 10/20/30k etc in 2003 and earlier for the A6/allroad to 5/15/25/35 in 2004...and I have no idea why. If I had to guess, it was probably done to reduce Audi's cost for doing the 50k service on their dime...

So, if you were looking for the freebie service at 50k, there is none for your 2004, since the car already had a freebie at 5/15/25/35/45k.

Here is the 2004 scheduled maintenance (scroll down to the A6/allroad section): <a href="http://www.bentleypublishers.com/images//tech/audi/audi.2004.maintenance.sched.pdf"> 2004 maintenance</a>
For comparison, here is the one from 2003: <a href="http://www.bentleypublishers.com/images//tech/audi/audi.2003.maintenance.sched.pdf">2003 maintenance</a>

Default If Audi didn't service the car at 45K, have it done NOW before the car reaches 50K.

At 50K the OEM warranty expires and they won't do any free service, even if it hasn't yet beeen performed.

Cool, thanks for the info guys. I had the 45k service done by the same dealership, so it looks like i'm okay until 55k.

Default Does not hurt to have oil changed every 5k miles regardless...

...actually preferable to do it every 5k miles. The dealer does not have to do it. You or a qualified independent mechanic can tackle that job for much less $$.

Ya I plan on still having it done. I might be taking a long cruise to South Carolina (from Boston) in the beginning of July so i'll get a tune up sometime before that.

Default Lynn Lynn...city oif sin...

...you never come out the way you went in!!!

I worked there for 5 years...but the commute there just about killed me! I am assuming that you are using Ira in Danvers since that is so close. They treated me very well there...but I usually worked with a service advisor that has since moved on.

We have a pretty active A6 crowd locally...keep your eyes out for upcoming events in the New England Forum.

haha. It's funny, no matter where I go, someone always knows that saying.

Yes I deal with the IRA in Danvers. I haven't had the car for too long so i've only had service done there once, but they treated me well.

I haven't browsed the NE forum much but maybe i'll start. I'm always up for meeting the local crew.
