2003 A6 Quattro Torque Converter Stuck Off
Ok so I know this has been rehashed on multiple forums but I haven't seen once where the 03 A6 Quattro was the auto under discussion. About two weeks ago I got an MIL, a couple of days later it went off, then came back on after I filled up. So I pulled the error code and it was the OBD P0941 Torque Converter Solenoid Stuck Off message. I had code cleared. I talked to Audi service shop and they said that the only issue with this code would be decreased fuel economy. There is no need for transmission fluid flush or new TC. So my question is are they right? And if so I wouldn't want to drive around with my MIL constantly on, so is there anyway for the code to clear? Please help!!!

My fix
I have an 01, and I carry a cheap OBD reader around in my glove box (~$30 on amazon or less). If the code comes on I just reset it. Usually stays off for 2-3 weeks, depending on how I drive.
Of note, if you live in a state with emissions inspections of any kind, the CEL will need to be off and the system in ready mode in order to pass inspection. IE if you just reset the code, you will need to drive around for a few days in order to get the OBD system ready to read.
Good luck

By the way, did you mean 0741 for the code?
Also interesting that the shop did not tell you that you needed a new TC. That is the most common advice I have heard.

Does the torque converter actually lock up ever? If it never actually engages the lockup clutch, the car will drive much differently than intended.. it will feel like it's slipping all the time..

Yeah, it was 0741, it seemed strange to me as well after doing some independent research where others were talking about this dreaded OB Code. I even asked whether a transmission flush would fix/remedy the problem and he said it would be a waste of money as the Transmission is supposed to last the lifetime of the car. There aren't really any drivability issues as of yet and car feels the same as always. He said that a new TC would probably not be worth it as the loss in fuel economy is not serious. I haven't seen any discernable difference in fuel economy so far.

No. car doesn't feel like its slipping all the time. The only thing i've noticed that seems to be similar to some of the other stories i've read is that there is a slight push when the transmission goes from 1-2 right after you start driving. Is this just something some Audi owners deal with? I'm really not looking to drop a couple grand on a new TC if its something I can get through for the next 2 years or so.
