Default 2001 a6 4.2 won't start has spark and cranks

I have a 2001 a6 4.2 AWN with 167k
Drove car, ran fine, parked for a few hours (not overnight) and it was cold maybe 32F.. And got back in car to go home and would crank over about 10 times and then just started cranking only, no sign of starting. Battery is good.. Jumped it also just in case, still nothing. Pushed into garage, warmed it up, still nothing. Tested coils and spark, gets spark. Plugs were soaked in gas when we pulled them out. So it obviously was getting fuel. Starter is working good, car just won't start. Have codes p0340, p0101. Changed camshaft position sensor and swapped to both sides, didn't change anything, still wouldn't start. Took back cps, obviously not problem.. Checked fuel pump fuse, it's good. Pulled back seat up and hear nothing from fuel pump but have fuel in spark plugs? Please help and thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

Did you look up the codes?
What do they mean?

P0340 says camshaft position sensor.. Tried that but it didn't work.
P0101 is something for the MAF, but I thought cars can run or at least start with a MAF unplugged? So why would anything to do with a MAF make my car not start?

Also.. We did try spraying some starting fluid into the throttle body area, didn't start. But checked spark plugs and they spark.. So I just can't see what's preventing the car from turning over :/

And.. P0300 p0305 p0307 p0308 have been there since I got the car and new plugs and coils didn't fix it.. Kind of gave up on those...

I thought you had it cranking over, but it wouldn't fire?
If it won't crank/turn over, check battery or starter.

How did you check for spark? elaborate.

Flooding sounds possible

Timing/air - something preventing the valves from opening and closing at the right time ( sounds far fetched to me too)

Back to "ho did you check for spark?" and "did you crank it enough to overcome flooding?"

Checked for spark by pulling out spark plug and putting it in the coil and grounding out the plug to something and then cranking the engine.

The night that this happened the car wouldn't actually run at all, just barely would fire and immediately stall out (did that about 10 times).. And then after that it just cranks.. Starter and battery are working very good lol just no action from the engine. Belts turn and everything.. Have spark, plugs were wet with gas when we pulled them out... So I can't figure out why if its getting spark that it won't start?

I was trying to figure out if:
a) you had spark on all cylinders
b) you had any idea if you had spark at the right time
c) you had a strong spark
...

because, as you suggest - fire + fuel + air = bang.

..of course those must be in roughly the right proportion and at roughly the same time....

Are you getting air? I guess without it you'd not get fuel.

Dud you flood it?

So you did replace the CPS? Generally when the CPS is bad power is cut to the fuel pump to prevent the engine from firing (safe guard).

Bought a cps and put it on pass side... Car wouldn't start.. So swapped new one to drivers side.. Still wouldn't start. Took back cps figured it wasn't the issue? Idk

Idk if its sparking at the right times or not I don't know how to check that..

I also don't know if it's flooded but maybe? How do I know or how do I dry it out?
