Default It was my understanding the short shift issue was only related to the 4.2 unless

one launches with full throttle.

Default Re: What year car is your A6? You could consider the 00032 tiptronic code...

Its a 2000...but I a) don't have a VAG-Com and b) even if i did, recently fried my laptop, so can't use it anyway!!

Default Go here for help. Your car is definitely eligible for the recode

You want the recode, believe me. 00032

VAG tool locator

Default

Why would a 2.8 have that issue in the first place?

Default Oh, it does.

My '99 short shifted out of 1st and that's why I wanted the recode, but you can't recode a '99.

In '00 the shift patterns were modified to allow for a longer held 1st gear; this was following complaints of sluggish acceleration. The modification is STILL not as good as an 00032 recode.

Default My '99 2.8 never had that problem. Are you trying to tell me the original owner recoded it

before I got my mitts on it?

Default Doubtful...

though I suspect that your driving style dictated a more aggressive shift logic. You beast!

Default Welll, <shuffles feet and whistles while looking skyward> you may have hit the

nail on the head there... If one takes off like grandma, I reckon it's possible to be in fifth before 35mph. I wouldn't be accused of that very much, lol.

Default recode pending

i just bought a VAG COM locally, so will recode once i figure out the interface.

the car was NEVER recoded previously, at least by the owner (father in law). he also rarely used tip and isn't heavy footed on takeoff.

that being said...when you want to "train" the car, it seems to be impossible to be first at the light!!
