Working on replacing my timing belt, I have my crank pin inserted, but the timing mark on the crank pulley is 1-2mm to the right of the mark on the plastic timing belt cover. How exact are these markings? Cam locks went in without issue, too. Here's a pic for reference.

Yep, close enough, especially if you have the crankshaft lock properly installed.
