Default i think ra was the clincher....i agree that you can sink a lot of money into a 2.7t to make it go

fast....but as you said, hp is not everything....i can't believe you said...."go for the flares"....8^)

Default Re: I would call it a move "over" vs. "up" but...

I thought the 4.2 has the tighter suspension and would thus feel lighter?

If it has the Sport package, yes. Otherwise it can be a bit on the "soft" side.

Default No, it has a V8 engine, and is not as quick off the line as the 2.7T...

...the 2.7T is a sprinter, the 4.2 is a cruiser. Having driven both cars, I like each one for different reasons.

Default stock, - the 2.7T manual is the quickest at 0-60 in 6sec. Torque curves are different

You need to test drive and feel the cars; if you listen closely one will call to you either the 2.7 or the 4.2

My observations

the 4.2 does not come in a manual.
4.2 has more limited/expensive options for performance modding.

4.2 is easier to add S6/RS6 front end stuff to.
You can fit fatter wheels on a 4.2

In my experience the 2.7T handles better, I don't know why is it weight distribution?
My my2003 2.7 has wheel flairs although not as wide as a 4.2, I've compared them side by side? What am I missing?
the 2.7T is slightly less expensive. I think auto insurance for the 2.7T is less expensive. Do check that out since I can't verify that right now.

I've never had a turbo failure and I have owned 4 turbo cars out of 5 cars total over a 20 year span. That would be 5 turbos, never a problem. Your mileage may vary...

RS6 yes! V8-twin turbo, Fender Flares, best of both worlds, does it come with a manual trans?
