Just turned 100k miles > > > weird rattle noise coming from right below gear selector . . . . anyone ever experience before? I'm thinking maybe the winter played hello with the drive shaft uv joints ..... especially since it was a warm weather car prior to this horrendous midwest winter !!! WHAT SAY YOU?????

p.s. i can keep it from rattling when i keep my foot in the gas and everything is torqued. only notice @ 40-60 mph approx.

could be CV slop - often felt though shifter or gas pedal.

Dunno though - could be many things, including a simple exhaust rattle too

which makes sense that the right front would go first ..... being as right hand turns are much sharper than left. Wonder what the true statistics are???

May want to keep an eye on the front right control arm as well, if the CV joint is going. For the same reason, the front right control arm goes first.

I had a similar sounding rattle about 6 months after I re-installed the newly rebuilt transmission. When it got really cold out the tail pipe was rubbing against the rear valence but that was at idle .... all i did was muscle the two apart to resolve it and that was over 2 years ago.

This rattle seems to vary in frequency and only happens while the vehicle is in motion so it is hard to isolate. Sometimes it happens when i am coasting and sometimes it happens when I have it torqued. Really strange !!!!!

its most likely the cv joint. my outer did that too right before it got really bad and eventually broke. i would have to drive with a little bit of gas all the time to keep it from rattling/clicking, if i let go of the gas it would start rattling/clicking, then it did it all the time, then it broke. crazy.

Boot was ripped in half by the ice and snow ..... rough winter!!!

Replacing passenger side axle now!!!!
