sounds like OP pans on flipping this car.

The main on the current block are junk with coolant in that oil. replacement engine is the way to go .. its just a crap shoot as to wether you will get a good one.
BTW mine has 400,000km . running like a top....

If it's a flipper then just throw anything that runs in there.

I had several cars over 250k on a factory motor. I wasn't exactly arguing that point. Just pointing out that when you buy a used motor, you really never know what you are getting.

I really don't care. If it is known good (running in car), I'll take it. My issue with rebuilds is that you are taking a very reliable component and loosening/replacing every part on it, which introduces dozens of potential error points. If the rebuild has been run 1k miles or more, I'm fine with it.

I see what you are saying. I have definitely had to go right back into one or two motors in my lifetime. I once had a timing chain drive gear on a 190e crank shear the woodriff key after a few hundred miles. Grrrrrr!!! bent 3 valves.
