Default 12 year-old wheel refinishing (or as I call it "gunmetal goodness")

Hi,

It has been a while since I posted. My 2001 A6 2.7T is just shy of 120k miles now and the summer wheels needed to be refinished.

The wheels are the 17x7.5 AT Italia S5's. They are quite "substantial" wheels but have held up very well. I use my 16"ers for winter tires.

I took them to Quy's Coatings in Brampton, Ontario (near Toronto for you non-locals) and had them refinished in gunmetal grey with a semi-gloss finish. Quy cleaned up the road rash and sandblasted before the powder coating.

Here are some teaser shots. The new tires from TireRack do not arrive until tomorrow so I will post the mounted shots on Tuesday or Wednesday (I'm also waiting for new center cap stickers).

Original look...

Staged beside the winters...

Gunmetal goodness!

Closer up...

/dan

Looks great! I had my 18" Allroad wheels refinished as well, Carcone was the name of the place, in Vaughan.

Heck, I just polished off the road rash on my 2000 A6 OEM wheels and spray painted the few areas that did not clean off. They are not "perfect" (almost a color texture match) but unless you look real close you could not tell them from almost new wheels.

Not a huge fan of the color, but the finish on those things looks amazing!!! I want to eat off of it.

Great looking wheels. One big benefit of the gun metal color is that brake dust won't show up a readily so that's a plus of some sort.
