Windshield wiper clearance to hood

Windshield wiper clearance to hood
In its rest position, the driver's side windshield wiper pivot arm on my 2011 A6 sits VERY close to the rear edge of the hood, no more than 1-2 mm clearance. Is this normal? I am concerned that Something will get pinched (ice, for example) and damage the hood. Does anyone know a way to adjust the assembly downward to give it more clearance to the hood?

Is your hood bent? Mine is nowhere near that close.

Wiper blade
You might try a different wiper blade. Some blades have the wiper arm mount further from the windshield than others.

To my eye it looks like the driver's side wiper arm is bent. Look at the gap between the wiper blade and arm (diagonally slanted upwards). I don't think there should be that much of a noticeable gap there.

I've got the same vision on my 2015 A5. You have to put the wipers in service position or the arm will damage the hood or the arm itself.
