Windshield Replacement

There are only like a couple of auto glass suppliers, get the glass from a reputable repairer like Safe Lite and you will be fine.

The windshield that I have in mind is not the cheap knock off, it is made by a reputable company (forgot which one, but will let you know later) has everything that OEM has, expect it doesn't say Audi on it. Given the fact that I got 3 stone chips in 4 months, I would say that the OEM windshield is weak or weaker than it was in my other cars, or I simply got unlucky. My driving style hasn't changed and I have never had so many stone chips in so little time.
Thanks for the comments everyone, I'll update the post when I have it installed.

I actually had a conversation with someone in the industry who shared that the windshields made for car manufacturers and the ones they make for aftermarket are not the same quality. Safety yes but quality of the finished product differs. Its the reason you will see some glazing etc in aftermarket windshields.

In my experience, the quality of OEM Audi sourced auto glass has diminished over the last several years (they may not be alone). My '09 A4 windshield had to be replaced (with OEM) after 3 years due to larger rock chips and a multitude of small ones and the replacement was a mess of peppered dings a year later when I traded it in on my current A6. My old '01 A6 needed a single replacement at 6 years old only after a large rock cracked it. My wife's '02 allroad has one tiny nick on the original windshield and is still almost as clear as when new after 12 years. Now, I have the same issues in the A6 after two years - couple of chips and sand blasting. So while after-market glass may be no better, IMO, OEM these days isn't all it's cracked up to be. (Pun intended).
