They said something about going back to a boutique expensive brand. Isn't that what Audi is for VW? Or maybe I read this wrong.

My feeling is they dropped this bomb as a message to CARB and others as a result of the hammering they're getting. "If you keep hassling us, we'll just take our ball and go home. Then see what happens when we close 600 dealerships, the US factory, not to mention all the local suppliers, and put tens of thousands out of work".
