I hope the B&O sub is not like this... for 6k it should be gold plated! Seriously, the sub is laughable. I had to drive to best buy to get an amp wiring kit, and I had the rear sub out of the car. I could tell no difference in sound quality with and without it. A 10 inch sub, that has zero effect - shameful.

I am going to weigh it... I bet it's well under a pound. The new sub weighs in at 16 lbs :-)

I am presently rebuilding my A6 Premium Plus and your project is a definite possibility (especially for $250!)

So detail pics of those wires and access to the rear deck would be invaluable!

Thanks.

The Bose sub is no better unfortunately, barely audible at full bass and no separate sub control in the MMI. I have parts on the way, plan to do the install this weekend. Will keep the Bose sub and add a JL Audio in the trunk. (It is a company car so I need to keep mods to a minimum.). The Bose sub sits in the rear shelf just like the standard, so an open air sub like the OP put in should be a good solution as well.

OK - I put a writeup and some pics on the original post. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Did I mention it sounds amazing? :-)

The sub broke in a bit throughout the day and it sounds even better.

So i noticed in your write up on page one, you didnt mention a remote wire.

I havent installed car audio in years, but I always had to run a remote wire... usually to the Radio power, or did the "add-a-line" fuse to the existing ACC fuse

or do amps these days have auto on/off?
