Sport or non-sport? Need advice
#11
We have a 2010 A4 avant non-sport and an A6 with the 20" sport. Body roll is hugely reduced in the A6. Overall, I think the A6 has a remarkably smooth sport suspension. I'm much less impressed with the A4 non-sport suspension. Lots of body roll and numbness, but still tends towards being crashy on rough pavement. The 20" wheels on the A6 mean a little bit of harshness but not bad, and certainly not any worse than the B8 S4 with 19" wheels.

I found that the sports suspension with 20 inch wheels to be relatively good over bumps with reasonable body lean in curves for a large car. But the Pirelli tires supplied with my car can be noisy so take that into consideration when deciding on which size wheel/tire to select.

I was wondering if anyone cross shopped the A6 and the M56S (with the 20' sport suspension) and can compare the ride of the infiniti vs the Audi with sport. I currently drive an M56s (that will hopefully turn into an Audi by July) and find the sport susp. went just a bit too far in the noise and stiffness department, even though handling is very good. Since the tire profile is very similar (sidewall height on the 19s for audi is 4in., for the 245.40.20 in the M it's 3.8)the suspension setup matters a lot. I don't think 0.2 inches will significantly improve the ride.... for comparison, the stock 17 in. on the base A6 3.0 has a sidewall height of 4.8...
I love cars that handle, but at some point they become unlivable for daily driving; I'm trying to avoid that mistake. On the flip side, I had a 1998 A4 2.8 FrontTrak without the sport suspension and the body lean was ridiculous. Granted, it's 14 years ago and Audis have changed....
Thanks.
