Default Hello Uber

Uber, your persistence and confidence made me do some digging. You are right. The dealer gave me the wrong information. I went to the dealer and requested to see the type of oil they use on diesels. This is what they showed me:

It appears I was given the wrong information. All is safe and DPF will live on. This is part of the reason oil analysis showed properties similar to 0w30.

Thanks for clarifying.

Awesome ! You can count on the forums for mostly valid info! Good luck with it.

Default Notice the high phosphorus/zinc readings....

That doesn't mean that everyone who changed early had problems, just that it appeared that there was a strong correlation between having problems and having changed early.

One theory is that modern machining tolerances are so tight that rings *NEED* those suspended metal particles to seat properly. I'm an electrical engineer, not a mechanical engineer, so I'm staying mostly out of that. Search the forums, read the postings, make your own decision - just make it informed, not based on 20-30yo conventional wisdom. YMMV, professional driver on closed course, etc, etc, etc.
in the OP's printout. Phosphorus/zinc is used in breakin oil to protect high pressure wear areas (camshaft tappets, etc.). Breakin oil usually doesn't contaim much, if any, super anti-wear additives to help seat the rings to cylinder walls.

It will be nice to see the OP's next oil change printout, I would guess the phosphorus/zince levels to be much, much lower.

I'm changing the oil this Monday, and sending it out for analysis. Should be clear next Thursday or so.
