Inferno was kind enough to try recoding his Central Convenience module and I believe we can confirm that Byte 13, Bit 1 is the enable for the trunk "kicker" sensor as he got the following error message without getting the 5th subsystem that kicker-equipped cars have:
Code:
03932 - Real Lid/Hatch Opening Sensor
            004 - No Signal/Communication

Byte 15 (RS=00h, DB22=47h / 71d)

Inferno and I have the same codings there but ours differ from yours as above... I'm mostly curious to know what the differences mean. I think Byte 15 may be start/stop related - since the US S6 doesn't have it, that could explain the large difference....

I guess you did Adaptive Brake Lights:
Byte 8, Bit 1 (RS=0, DB22=1) <- adaptive brake lights
Yes I have adaptive brake lights.

Looked this morning:
Byte 6 bit 0 = Rear Window Blinds installed.
Byte 11 Bit 2 = Start Stop Function Active.
Byte 15 = I do not see any text.

The car returns and the hands free works. The service manager "trained" me on the correct method. In my defense, I was trying too hard.
The manager told me that there are two sensors, one behind the other, in the center of bumper. Your foot must be seen by one sensor and then the next sensor, not both at the same time. Slowly kick your leg forward and pull back at a slow pace. Pop, it opens.

So was there anything wrong with the mechanism or was it just the way you were trying to open it?

It was the method and pattern of the leg movement.

I think that it depends on the RF properties of the pants that you are wearing and the amount of metal in your shoes. Try it with shorts and barefoot.

So is there a sensor that I can look for to see if my car even has the equipment?

That post is a little inconclusive. Others have mentioned they suspect it is managed by the parking sensors.
