Have you checked the specs of your video files?

Video:
mpg, mpeg - MPEG 1/2
avi - ISO-MPEG 4, DivX 3,4,5, Xvid
mp4, m4v, mov - ISO MPEG 4 H.264 (MPEG4 AVC)
wmv, asf - Windows Media Video 9
Spec - up to max 2000 kbit/s, 720x576 pixels at max 25fps

If your videos are a higher res than 720x576, they won't play.

The only movies I can get to work are direct DVD rip with Handbrake. I have a massive iTunes movie library I can't play because of the DRM. I tried to strip it and put them on a memory card but nothing works. It's so lame that I can't play movies I paid for in my car. If anyone has a solution please let me know. The software I am using doesn't work.

Same exact videos loaded on the iPhone4S play fine. I don't even see the directory/folder for videos on the iPod Touch.

I've done some DVDs ripped native resolution (720x480?) and Pavtube Video Converter Ultimate using:

h264 Codec
1000kbps
original resolution & frame rate

AAC audio codec
48000 Hz
128000 bps
Stereo

YMMV of course...

Makes some sense - the screen captures produced by the MMI are 800x480, so I suspect that's the LCD's native resolution. I rip most things at 480p (720x480) and so it doesn't seem like going to more lines is going to improve things.

Is anyone using the "Red Grommet" aka "R" cable for videos successfully with an iOS 7.1.2 device? My 30pin device is on iOS 7.0.4 and I don't want to upgrade it - especially if 7.1.2 is incompatible with the MMI I have

Richard, aren't you the one that wanted drivers not vehicle operators but you want to watch videos too. I'm confused!

a) Not necessarily while the vehicle is moving
b) When you see what I'm working on, I think you will like it

Well to be more clear, I need video out from an iDevice with BT LE, and from what I find, I need MMI to play videos from that device before I can get to the next step.

I'm probably 95% there but am stuck using my only iPhone4S until/unless I can get the iPodTouch 5th gen working

I mean, it's not like I want the World Cup on or anything

Curious if the latest gen MMI (4G+) supports lossless audio formats or (better yet) a direct digital interface between an iPod/iPhone and the amp?

Always driven me bonkers that you can plunk down $6k for B&O in an S7 and it's not direct digital from the source to at least the amp.

No. It does not support any lossless formats. In fact, it can't even play an uncompressed WAV file.
