Does anyone know if there is any difference between a 2012 and 2013 a6 prestige?

2013 has a newer instrument cluster module which support Active Lane Assist and Lap timer, depending on the built day, some 2012 may have that too.

2013 has LED as an option, not sure if that is available for 2012

Some 2012/2013 has a trunk opening sensor in the back, mine was bulit in Nov 12 and it doesn't have it.

Hope that help.

I'm in the same boat. Did you ever find a 2012 A6 C7? If so, what are your thoughts and findings in terms of reliability? Post pix of your car if you have them. I'm interested in a 2012 or 2013 A6 3.0. I'm not in a rush to buy one but would like to have it this summer. I've been checking some out in my area and just want to get the experience of other A6 C7 3.0 owners out there. The more I've learned about it, the more I want one. I've always had a manual tranny car, so this would be my first automatic daily driven car, but since the supercharged engine is putting out decent #s Im willing to consider this car plus I need the space for kids.

Anyways, let me know what you're experience is with your car and any other knowledge you can share.

Thanks.

I've had my 2012 3.0T Prestige for just over 2 years, and I'm now at >67k miles. Aside from a faulty hood latch last year, I've had no issues. I've done all my maintenance myself except for 2 services that were covered by the previous owner's Audi Care. It's really been a solid car. I kept my last Audi (2002 A4) until nearly 200k, and I plan to keep this one the same if it keeps treating me like it has so far.

As long as you keep current on the maintenance, I would expect good reliability.

The reliability of my 2012 A6 2.0T that I bought brand new in Sept 2012 is looking ok at 43k miles. The only repair I've had was for a faulty gasket on the A/C which leaked out all the refrigerant. There is a TSB for this and it was taken care of under warranty.

My 2.0T engine doesn't burn oil. The level stays right at the Max even with a 10k mi oil change interval. CVT clutches still engage smoothly and the car gets amazing mileage. Almost 32 mpg averaged over the whole 43k miles of mixed city/hwy driving. But only the FWD 2.0T models get mileage this high.

I'm still on original ContiProContact tires wearing evenly with 6/32" left, and original brakes with lots of brake dust.

Beige interior still looks clean and stylish, but I do have the dimples in the leather from my butt cheeks. I think it's because the leather is quite thick there so it doesn't have the elasticity to go back to normal.

Overall, very happy with this car and I just paid it off so I'm going to keep it for maybe five more years.

Just got off telephone with one of my colleagues who also has an A6 (I have one but it is a /15 3.0T only 9 months old/9,000 miles so my experience -- so far no issues -- doesn't really help with questions about long term reliability). I think my colleague's car is a 2012. He told me that he now has 73,000 miles and aside from the fuel rail recall he has had no issues of any consequence. I take this as very encouraging since I view the owners of older and higher mileage C7s as the canary in the mine for those of us who have later year/low mileage cars. Perhaps indeed the C7 is the uber-reliable Audi. I hope so.

Best,
Jeff

Just bought a 2012 A6 w/ 64k miles on it, and also came from 06 Acura TL(like Acuransx). Great to see some positive reviews to back all the research I did. Sounds like scheduled maintenance is key to longevity.

Thanks for all the feedback.

I just test drove a 2012 A6 3.0 Prestige. Interior and exterior looked flawless util I started it up and it had a rough idle prob due to the CE light that came on. I did notice the A6 I drove didn't have paddle shifters and then realized thats an option that comes with the Sport package. I'm interested in the Sport package on the A6 but aside from larger wheels and the paddle shifters, is it really worth it? Will I be disappointed? Or is the paddle shifter more of a novelty to have in the beginning.

I really loved the interior and its a step up from the size car I am accustomed to driving, which is usually a much smaller sporty car like a manual GTI or TT or 350Z. I'm getting older and have a kids so I figured I need to get a sedan with power.

I'd like to get opinions from those with the Sport Package, is it really worth it? Sport pkg on a used A6 is hard to find but I am not in a rush to purchase. I'd probably change my wheels eventually anyways so I guess is paddle shifters worth it and worth waiting for?

Cars I've seen are those with about 70k-75k. I know that the 75k maintenance is also another expense I should consider when purchasing a used A6, so how much would that be for the maintenance?

Also, any of you purchased an non-Audi extended warranty? Your thoughts? Cost?

These are things I am considering when making the purchase.

Thanks for the help/advice.
