Keyless start question
Thought i'd throw this out there to see if others are sharing this gripe..
In my previous C6 S6, i would just get in press the brake and give the start button a quick tap and let go...and the car would start up.
In my C7 A6 (with needle sweep enabled), i have to keep the button depressed with the brake for a second longer, otherwise the car will just do the needle sweep and not start until i press it again.
I can't recall how it operated before the needle sweep was enabled. It's an electric start, i should be able to give it a quick press and let the car do the rest like i did on the C6 and on a previous Land Rover.
Any thoughts from folks who don't have needle sweep? I will gladly disable needle sweep if that solves the problem. I just don't have VAG cable handy to try it.
Thanks!

I think that may just be something with your car. I have needle sweep enabled and all I have to do is tap my start button.
I will note a couple of things:
From the time that I hit the start button I almost have my seat belt fastened by the time the car has started. It seems like there is a 1 sec delay at least.
Also I have noticed that it seems that the start is initiated when you release the button, not when it is depressed. Is there any chance you are holding it too long?

Thanks Cyncis.. I'm definitely not holding too long.. Its that if i press it too quickly, it won't always start. If you're saying you just give yours a quick tap, then i'll have the dealership take a look at it. Maybe needs a new button if the signal is not registering. I thought maybe the needle sweep test causes a delay requiring me to hold the button longer.
I don't mind if it's delayed once you release - i just dont want to keep it depressed longer.

Here's how it should work w/foot on brake:
Tap and release start button; car starts immediately upon button release.
Tap and hold start button; car starts after a second or two.
Gauge sweep has no effect on either of the above.
