iPhone 5s connection
Hello everyone, maybe this subject has been discussed before but I research it with no luck, I recently switched from iPhone 4S to 5s, the former hooked up to the car's ami cable with no problems, now the 5s is got the tightening 8pin connector, do I change the cable supplied by Audi (USB to 30 pin), do they even have a cable that is USB to 8pin, or do I have to use apple 30 to lightning cable with the existing cable, all aftermarket cables will charge the phone but don't support audio, only apple cable does, need some help please, thanks

Everything you need to know as of today about the AMI cables and the lightning connector can be found here:

There is an indication of a new AMI to lightning cable but it's not confirmed or apparently available yet.

I asked my local dealer about the iPhone 5/5S cables, and was told that they are not available yet.
It's been more than a year since iPhone 5 came out...how can it possibly take so long for this..

The Apple Lightning adapter works perfectly. Use that for now. Cheapo Chinese ones don't work, so don't even bother trying. I already did.

There's a brand new cable, 4F0 051 510AC that is purported to be an AMI Lightning cable - it's available at a couple of online suppliers (Google the part number). I suspect this new AMI cable will have some kind of DAC built in similar to the 30 pin to Lightning adapter currently available (the AMI can only pass analog audio). I've not seen anyone who's tried one yet so it's unclear at this point if video will pass through to the MMI which the Apple adapter cannot do.
