Default harddrive and rear-view camera

Hi guys,

I am just curious if any of you replaced the hard drive for MMI system before?

I am wondering if it helps if I replace it with a SSD (if possible).
I feel like loading the system is a pain...often takes a couple minutes in order for all the function to work.

Also, for rear-view camera, how's the image quality for you guys?
Compared to the 07 Prius I was driving. I feel like the image quality is bad... It's not as clear as Prius.

Thanks

My guess is the load time is more CPU-bound than a HDD limitation.

+1 on the HDD

My rear camera is fine. Same quality as my previous two Lexus. Try cleaning the lens if you haven't already.

The camera isn't amazing, but it's good enough. My 2007 Infiniti was much better.

I was literary thinking of doing the same a few days ago. If anyone has instructions on where the HDD is and how to remove the HDD I'll happily be the guinea pig.

According to a local Audi dealer, it's in the unit where you put the SD cards and SIM card.

HDD might still be IDE type and IDE SSDs are either slow, small or expensive (if not all together).

Thank you all for sharing.

I guess the main reason they don't use SSD is the life of SSD.
People always say that SSD is easier to be broken.

HDD generally last longer (so it's better for a car I guess)

You can buy large SD cards (128-256 GB)for very cheap prices these days. Not sure if it worth the trouble to put a similar size SSD and mess with the hardware...

Get wholesale prices, group buy on this forum?
