Would a scrunge pad work better than a garage grade paper towel?

I would only use the scrunge pad if paper towel didnt work, which i doubt. Because it is expensive to toss a scrunge pad everytime you polish.

Finally had time to wash the car today and polish the exhaust. With a little elbow grease the shine is back! Thanks again to everyone for their recommendations.

Some after pictures.

Barkeepers Friend; rinse, dry and apply wax. Shiny and like new.

Not sure I would use wax on the exhaust tips. Like wheels, they get hot and the residual wax gets sticky thus holding onto exhaust particles. I would use a good polish and perhaps a sealant. I have found that if I clean the tips each time I was the car the tips stay very clean without any special treatment.

Use a sealant / coating on the exhaust tips to keep them very easy to clean. I am a fan of CQuartz, but any similar product like Gtechniq or Opticoat will do the same. I just clean the tips with my car wash soap and they come clean easily after being coated with CQuartz

As to cleaning non-coated tips - most of the pro's on Autopia recommend either:

P21S polishing soap
