Default Economy Car?

After a recent road trip to Florida, I checked the long term stats. Hard to believe. On some segments it was in the 36-37 mpg range at 74 actual mph. This A6 is a Prestige with the 3L V6.

I have done over 800 miles on a single tank in my C7. They love the highway!

The car just eats the road up on long highway trips!

If you cruise control for the majority of your miles then comfort mode makes no difference.
If you soft shift in traffic then it may help.

The combination of the s/c V6 and the ZF 8 speed is sublime. The well chosen ratios certainly contributes to relaxed and very economical highway cruising. I'm always pleasantly surprised at the great gas mileage I get on the highway at sane (read: no more than 85 mph and usually between 75 and 80) speeds.

Best,
Jeff

I've set my cruise to 80 on the Interstate for a 500 mile trip and the MMI recorded 32-33 mpg on two different trips through the PA hills. I also calibrated the readout and found it to be 5 to 10% high. Nonetheless it is still outstanding performance for a 4,000+ lb. car with excellent throttle response at all speeds.

While driving on I-4 through Orlando during two recent stays, there was interminable stop and go driving. The A6 with adaptive cruise handled it perfectly, down to 1 mph, occasionally to 0 mph, which requires a resume push on the stalk. Outside of taking too much time getting from point A to point B, it didn't really bother me. This is an amazing car.

I bought mine in the Bay Area and drove it back to Seattle. 80mph except in Oregon and got 28.3 mpg... loved it.
I was having so much fun I went just over 6 hours without a stop and still had almost a 1/4 tank.

You obviously did not consume any coffee -- LOL. Enjoy your new ride!

Best,
