Default Drivers Side Assist light comes on randomly

I just saw a fellow forum member post about this(https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...53&postcount=8) and thought I would create a separate thread since this has been bothering me lately.

Anybody else experienced this and got it fixed by the dealer? Is there a TSB on it?

Thanks.

@Zandym: I think I know what you are talking about. I have about 9000 miles on my C7 and once in a while, the side assist light would come on randomly and it took me a while to figure out. I take the same route to work everyday and there is 90 degree angle to get on the freeway. Every time I take that too close to the wall, the light would come on thinking its a car or something.

When I take the turn a little far from the freeway wall, the light does not come on.. This is what happens to me. Maybe you might have a different scenario.

Just my 2 cents....

Mine also comes on at times when there's nothing on that side of the car. I've noticed that side assist can be easily triggered by rain, sunlight and when the car hasn't been rinsed. 90% of the time, mine works quite well.

I do believe there is a TSB but no action at this time as it probably is a SW issue. The TSB just identifies the issue.

It happens to me randomly as well. Often in wife open spaces. I put it down to Geister Farheren.

Same with my A8. Rounding a left corner, the side assist picks up the local Radio Shack building along my daily route. I'm sure it's the angle of the car relative to the building that confuses the system.

I've experienced this even on wide open spaces. The weird thing is that it only happens on the drivers side. One would think that if it was interference, it would happen on the other side too.

Here's the list of TSBs I found that may be related.
Got the info from the link provided by fellow member Karkid.

Good to know I am not the only one. Had this happen this weekend and was not sure what was causing it. Will keep an eye on this thread.

2013 S6 here. This happens to me too while driving in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway.

I usually just turn driver's assist off and back on and it wont happen again for a week or so

I haven't seem this on my '13 A6, but my wife's '10 Q5 has this issue sporadically. Seems to happen in wide open areas. Haven't had it checked by the dealer yet as its been only a minor annoyance to date.
