I own a 2012 A6 3.0T Prestige with sports package and factory 19"s

I got a set of take off 20"s from another A6 with stock tires.

They are telling me that because the load rating is lower that they can't put them on my car based on VIN.

WHICH IS ****ING HORSE ****... because these are oem wheels\tires..

255/35/R20 100Y

Here are the new 20's

255/35/R20 97Y

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but the lower load rating on the 20's versus the 19's is because the lower profile tire is smaller and requires less pressure\air??

The tires that ship on the S6 are 97 and that car weighs a LOT more than an A6. Go somewhere else.

Are they already mounted on wheels? Just swap them yourself?

Load rating 97 is 730Kg, 100 is 800Kg.

4 x 730Kg = 2.92 tonnes (or 6347 pounds).

So I think 97 is OK.....

They are protecting themselves from a lawsuit if the tires fail and you crash. Blame our litigious society for that. I'm sure their information is correct. The wheels are in spec but the tires obviously are not. It could be that the VIN shows them what load rating you car was delivered new with. Like someone said, put them on yourself

When I bought new wheels and tires from discount tire they would not sell me anything that did not meet the factory spec load rating, as said they are protecting themselves.

Before you mount them in the car, can you weigh the 20's please?? Curious to know what they weigh. Also, let us know your thoughts about the ride quality differences between the 19's and 20's.

My local tire guys refused to put nokian hakka snows on my S5 because the speed rating was R, which is 106 mph, and the S5 is capable of higher speeds. I brought the wheels in, they mounted the Hakkas, and I put them on myself.
