Hundreds of threads on this already. The engine mfr recommends 91 octane for the USA.

I suspect if you ask enough times someone will grant you permission to run regular. Welcome aboard!

Tried it once. Never again as there was knock. Engines do not like pre-detonation.

The cost difference does not warrant it anyways.

.20 a gallon difference for 20 gallons is $4.00.

You could survive if you ate Mcdonalds everytime you were hungry. After a while however, you wouldnt feel so good.

Same idea.

I have been running with 91 Octane since I got the car .... Sunoco is the only brand in NJ that carries 91 and I have had absolutely no issues...

I don't understand how you would notice knock as today's engines with the help of the knock sensor would retard the timing thus eliminating knock...

What you should detect is a slight loss in performance

Anyhow, I am running 91 AKI ((R+M)/2) (Not 91 RON) lets be clear here and have absolutely no loss in performance!

Every Sunoco I have run into has 93 octane for only a $.01 or two more than 91, why wouldnt you run 93 instead?

Why spend all the money on such a nice car to cheap out for a couple dimes a gallon? Makes no sense.

Pardon my question, but what is the difference between the AKI and RON you mention?

I wish I could run 93 octane but here in Iowa, it's hard to find 93 - all we have at most stations for Premium is 91.
