Here is a somewhat crappy pic of the tire sidewall damage near one of the many wheel damaged areas.

It is not that wide, but it is about 1/4" deep into the sidewall.

Thoughts?

When I was stationed in Connecticut, I bought a car in New London and I rode with the salesman to a Rhode Island dealer. I took delivery and drove it to NY where I sold it to my father for a buck. Didn't pay tax anywhere.

Some of my shipmates had cars registered in one state, insured in another state and their drivers license from their home state. If they were pulled over, they got a warning because the police didn't want to do the paper work to write them up. This was back in the cold war/Vietnam era and I'm glad that were no phones with cameras then...

Easy repair. $125-150 and it will look like new. Getting reimbursed by the selling dealer could be another matter.

Ugh… don't get me started on "audi assured vehicles…"
went to B.B.B. and filed complaint. Turns out that {{{Gasp}}} the car dealer will Lie!!!!!
They promised a free wash and fill up after the purchase, and miraculously, the cruise control stopped working! Turned out there was a pin hole in the vacuum line. Wonder how that got there? Had car inspected, turned out almost every panel was hit and repaired despite a clean car fax.
Wait. I said "don't get me started". Too late.

Look like new is one thing, but what about structural integrity? Everything I've read says sidewall damage is a replace, not repair item.

I only spoke to the wheel. Can't tell on the tire from the photo. The wheel damage is cosmetic and easily repaired. No worry about structural damage - I've had much worse that after repair were fine.

On a similar but more encouraging note another dealer I dealt with told me straight out that he couldn't CPO the car I was looking at because it was a "salvage" title. He didn't try and skirt the fact that it had a salvage title, he said he did not know the circumstances of it, but that they would not CPO it based on that alone.

So, Audi of North America has been contacted..

They seemed very receptive and frankly, shocked, by the situation.

oh well.. speaking of CPO. I learned my lesson when I bought my CPO A4. The 600 points (or whatever the number they use in marketing) inspection is BS. A blind man can tell nothing was done to do the car to ensure it is in tip top condition. Complaint to service department and was told "relax, everything can be fixed".. oh well..
