That's just Silly-Con Valley speak. None of those ideas work in the real world.
Even when Audi incorporates Android OS into MMI, and even if that connected to a cloud for music, what will you say to your friend on the way to Vegas when he/she wants to plug in his/her phone to play some new music? Can you? Do you have the adapter?
Basically, none of this will be future proof unless you don't have it. Just look back at some cars from the 1980's and laugh at their "technology."
Only BMW got it right back then with their trip computer. It calculated MPG, Range, trip time, and many other things - and we still use it today. But looking back at 1985, they were WAY AHEAD of their time. Or maybe they were the pioneer?
Essentially, Silly-Con Valley is full of ideas and only very few of them work. BMW's trip computer from the 1980's most certainly didn't come from HP or FarceBook.
Audi should look at "glass cockpits" and Garmin "G-1000" cockpit setups in the newer planes and try to incorporate the ribbon in gps destinations - weather overlays - traffic a'la waze, and so much more.

1. You have to carry a pad instead of a fob. Better get your man-purse out of the closet.
2. And the next generation will have a different connector or they will all need the $50 interface cable like we use now.
3. The good news is that the tablets will be cheap on E Bay because there will be thousands of stolen ones when thieves only need to break the window to get 4 of them.
4. Audi is so in bed with Google that any Apple interface is going to be limited.
I could go on but I agree, on the face of it, it seems like a bad idea.
