You shouldn't have had any issue getting the A6 $1500 Loyalty program with an over 5 year old Audi if it was a MY2001 or later.
From the AOA website:
Returning Audi owners are eligible for the Audi owner loyalty program.
This incentive offer is extended to individuals or businesses that currently own or lease a MY01 or newer Audi model (proof of ownership required).

According to my ABS it seems like this comes and goes, usually is around but $ amount may vary. The one in place when I ordered was gone by the time I purchased (ED) but by then there was a new one (this $1500 offer) so it worked out, but I could see that depending on timing one might miss the rebate.
