Check Engine Light on Day One
Hi everyone! I'm a new member and have never owned an Audi so have been benefiting from reading the great information here during the past several months. Thanks for that!
I ordered my 2014 A6 TDI four months ago. The car was ordered and built as follows: Prestige, Dakota Grey, Black interior, Innovation package, Driver Assist package, 20" Sport package, LED headlights.
After 4 months of anticipation, when my salesperson was teaching me the various items the check engine light came on. A technician and tech supervisor spent about 30 minutes looking into it and said there was a problem with an AdBlue part (I know I should have remembered the part..a pump I think..but I was kind of in a shocked daze...lol.) They said they would need to order the part and apologized. They said I can drive the car without worry until the part arrives. I made a comment to my salesperson regarding the Lemon Law paperwork he had shown me during the signing process and asked if I should keep that close by. He said it isn't anything to worry about in terms of the overall car and it is just one part that will be easily fixed.
So, obviously after a 4 month wait I took the car home. I have not had any problems other than a new message that appeared once and not again indicating AdBlue 600 miles which I assume to be related. The logical part of me says "things happen, it's not a big deal, and it is just one defective part". The service manager talked to me the next day and said they feel bad and gave me free AudiCare and again reiterated it is nothing to be concerned about. I was happy with that and actually was a bit surprised because I negotiated so hard on the price when ordering the car and got an awesome deal so I didn't think they would do anything!
Should I be worried?
By the way, I absolutely love the car after driving it for two days...amazing! ACC, HUD, Lane Assist, Night Vision very cool!

Personally, I wouldn't be concerned. Yep. It's irritating. But it's a small pump that Audi doesn't make themselves. And the failure has nothing to do with the design of the car, itself. There are so many parts from so many suppliers.....this is exactly what warranties are for.
Great car. Hope you enjoy it.

Very close to my'13 Prestige except for Nougat and missing the Sport Package (wish I had it). Looks like the dealer is going to stand behind you... Wouldn't worry.

+1 Getting the AudiCare is a very fair deal. Enjoy the new car!
