A6 TDI versus Q5 TDI? Debating a change
Hi everyone. While I love my A6 TDI, the ground clearance seems a bit low for those 1-2 foot snowstorms that I often drive-in. My 95 S6 seems much higher. So considering looking at the Q5 TDI. Does anyone have both? Mileage on the Q5 seems low perhaps 30 on the highway from reading the forums. My A6 seems to be around 35 MPH Highway (Colorado). Maybe 40 if I try hard. I assume the interiors are similar and overall dynamics a bit worse on the Q5? Thanks for the response in advance.

Cross-shopped both. Found the Q5 interior to be less than the A6. A6 drove nicer (sedan vs crossover, but still), and was quicker. IMO cars suit me better, but the Q5 is still nice. I find myself looking at the last gen whenever one drives by but remembering how old school the interior was and how much newer the A6 was/is.
One other tidbit, most everyone who rides in the A6 complains about how small it is. If you transport more than yourself, consider the Q5.

Q5 is based off the A4 so back seat is definitely smaller. I have both and have yet to try the wife's Q5 in a big snowstorm (she has snow tires) but suspect the ground clearance would be an advantage just the same. She has the Chipwerks box and get 35 with very conservative highway driving. It is comfortable enough but I still think the A6 is nicer. It just feels more solid. Pretty sure I can get more luggage in the trunk than she can. We had back to back 8+" snow storms last week and even with all seasons I managed well enough. My commute is about to change so will probably be getting snows just to be sure. Doubt you would regret the Q5 especially if you found a Prestige.
