Bumper plugs...alternative
So, I decided that the license plate is just plain fugly on these cars since the front grill is soooo big. Took mine off and of course, I now have 4 ugly holes drilled into the grill.
I looked at Bumper Plugs and they want $24.95 for a PAIR, and I need 4 of them, so $50! uh, not gonna happen.
So, being the genius that I am (and having seen someone else post this a few years back), I decided to make my own. Seemed easy enough. Went to Home Depot, and bought something I thought would work, but was actually too flat. I think a slightly rounded top is better looking, like the Bumper Plugs.
I did a google search and found a brand called Hillman that makes the hole plugs and they have them at Lowes. I tried to find the exact ones I got online to add a link, but couldn't, sorry.
Anyway, bought 4 at $.80 each, a can of Krylon 2 Coat Glossy Black spray paint and went to work. I stuck the end of the plugs in a cardboard box I had laying around so they would stick straight up and put about 5 coats on the plugs. Then I found that I had a clear coat spray can around and used that for two coats.
After drying, I drilled out the bumper a little more to make the holes nice and round and to allow the plug to snap in tightly. Wallah, looks better.

They were located in the section with the screws and bolts. They weren't in the little baggies handing on hooks, they were below in the drawers. The brand is Hillman. I'm thankful that the grill is just black, and not painted the same as the body color.

I haven't seen the S2000 ones.
I just picked up another plug since I only bought 3, here are the specs if interested:
Lowe's
Hillman
Push Fasteners
Variable Depth
Nissan
Size: J3
H# 881204 (not sure what this is, maybe you can google all this and find online but Lowe's is so cheap...)
008236715958 is the SKU number on the packaging
$.80
They look good enough for my purposes since they're so small.

I'd like to add the area where the license plate holes are drilled is part of the trim and not the bumper. So I think it's cheap to replace. I honestly don't like these plugs, they seem to attract more attention than the holes.
