A6 phoning home?
Recently I added my A6 to my AT&T share plan and I noticed that the car uses data at the same time several times a day. I don't drive it everyday so sitting in the garage it is accessing data while parked and off. Any idea who it's talking to? Not a lot of data, just curious.

Hmmm, interesting. Just a quick snapshot of the usage.Seems to be a little more than pings? Also, I dont see that kind of activity on any of the other four phones on this account. Wonder what Audi is up to??

Probably telling the Audi warranty department how fast you've driving, when you exceeded the max RPM/redline, what odd or dangerous places you're driving to and what nasty things about Audi you were saying as you drove. I doubt they would miss the opportunity to do a little spying as part of "Truth in Engineering" - lol
As part of some cars' ability to tell you when they need to go for service, etc. the car must be relaying information back to the corporate folks to monitor how the cars are holding up under the abuse they're getting.

I seriously doubt that it's anything that nefarious, especially with all the controversial hoopla of cel phone tracking that's made the news in the last couple of years. The service dept. does a lot of that when your car goes in for service and the tech hooks it to the computer to talk to the mother ship.
