Default 2016 Price?

Looking at a new A6 for the wife, we currently have a 2013 A6 2.0, Premium Plus, 19" with sport suspension. She's been pleased with it. Here are the specs and price. 2016 A6, 2.0, Premium Plus, 19" S Line, LED headlights, Bose sound system, first aid kit, all weather floor mats and black headliner. MSRP is 56290.00. Dealer willing to take off 6%, there is also a 500.00 loyalty credit. Can I do better and if so what should I shoot for? Looking to pull the trigger in the next couple days.

Thanks in advance

Dave

From my research I think 6% is about the going standard rate the dealer will knock off. Beyond that it will depend on your negotiation skills. I also tried to time my purchase when there was a factory rebate going on.

There will always be someone who finds and gets a better deal, but that does not mean they are widespread available. Audi has a reputation for very good resale, and that is usually a factor of how a manufacturer and its dealers maintain a reasonable supply and demand model where they do not continuously try to pump up sales with big discounts.

I think 6% plus incentives is a good deal, but the A6 is more of a volume line for Audi. Late in 2015 I saw discounts on the A6 around $6,000 on a $64,000 car. But that was also when the refreshed 2016s had already been announced and were about to begin production.

If you are satisfied with the price then you can look to asking for something else as part of your deal. I have been lucky enough to have all weather mats given to me at no cost (Audi and MB) and a set of roof bars at a 50% discount with the tax on the bars included (around 9% here in Seattle). You can also ask for a license plate frame or some other goody from the accessory store in the dealership. If you are asked for an "excellent" rating on your experience when you receive a survey, you can leverage your position by saying "the extra goodies will almost guarantee a great rating". Almost being the key word.

Good luck. I too have a '13 A6 Prem + and would be interested in any positive changes from '13 to '16 you perceive after driving the new model for a while.

Shef, do you have another non-audi luxury car in house? if so you can leverage that to get the competitive discount ($1500). Note: this account can't be used with the loyalty discount. This is what I did.

Also, I am purchasing a 2016 3.0 myself at the moment. My broker secured a great deal for me well below invoice, about 9% off msrp. PM me and I will send you his details. FYI part of this is what I did above where I used the competitive discount instead of the loyalty discount.

Well its done Got them down to 8.6% off MSRP and with the 500 loyalty it came out to lie 9.6%. I felt it was a fair deal for both of us. What sealed the deal was they gave me what I asked for on trade for our 2013. They will get the car in on Thursday (another dealer had it). Thanks again for the insight
