Actually $45,920 because he said Premium PLUS.
W/o options, add on tax and yes, he is exactly right that he'd be paying almost $50K for a wimpy 4-cyl, FWD midsize sedan.
I dont think its a gouge at all where the 3.0 Quattro is priced. Especially considering the competition. They shouldnt even offer the 2.0.

Believe it or not, there will be people who buy the A6 and couldn't care less about quattro and the 3.0T. The 2.0T provides a much lower price of entry and that's enough for some people to consider the A6. Besides, the 2.0T already scoots in the A4, and the A6 weighs only a little more (and nearly 400 lbs. lighter than the 3.0T quattro). The fuel economy at 25/33mpg in a midsize sedan is nothing short of amazing, even better than the A4 FWD Multitronic (22/30mpg).
Next year we'll have more options, a 265hp 2.0T Hybrid and a 310hp twin-turbo 3.0TDI. I'm excited about the diesel, that's going to be a beast with incredible fuel economy in the mid 30s.

The 2.0 will be seriously underpowered!

Personally, I wish they would offer the A6 without quattro as I have no need for it in NC.
I'm interested to see how the 2.0 drives. I think a lot of people have headtrash regarding 4-bangers from times gone past.
