Default Factory sub not working?

Took my car in to replace sub. They call me and say my sub isn't working at all. Unfortunately this is after they dynamatted the entire deck and spliced the stock wiring so now I can't take it to the dealer.
The car sounds exactly how it did when I dropped it off so my suspicion is my sub never worked.

Any suggestions???

vag-com coding perhaps? Does the sub only come with B&O?

Default The first thing I'd check are fault codes, secondary measuring blocks and last but not least...

...perform an output test for the sub and check it that way. Usually those things are easy to figure if you have the appropriate gear.

or try to connect an external source to the sub and see if it makes any sounds
try to establish if the problem is in the signal getting to the sub
or the sub generating sound

That would be the hard way while the above just costs you less than a minute.

"less than a minute "

if you have the appropriate gear.

if not then then all this costs you is some speaker wire

Default Word for word the same story for me today.....

I think this might be a B&O defect. The problem is, I had no idea the subwoofer wasn't working because I had nothing to compare it to. I just thought the bass level sucked in the system. Now I find out the factory sub never worked at all but because I've replaced it, the dealership might not repair the amp under warranty. I've just decieded to run a seperate amp for the new sub. I feel that I could have argued with the dealership about it and gotten it replaced for free but it might takes weeks/months for the new amp to arrive. My sunshade and armrest have been broken for 2 weeks now and the dealership has no idea when the parts will be coming in. Since the S5 is a completely new model, there are few extra parts for repairs.

Default Is there anyway to diagnose this?

I am picking mine up tomorrow and have B&O. I'd rather have the dealership figure this out. It may very well have been the case with the previous Bose upgrade system too (the bass was always below par)!

I listened to the B&O on a demo A5 a long time ago and it was indeed full deep bass -- way deeper, crisper and louder than the Bose on my B7 -- so if that was a system with a working sub, I have a faint refference to compare to.

Default Turn the bass up, pop the trunk and hold your had over the sub...

You can see the speaker cover inside the trunk, if it's working you should feel it. The problem for me was the amp. We hooked up the factory sub to another system and it worked fine. The amp just wasn't sending a signal.
