A couple pictures of my newest mod :)
This took me since the beginning of the year... When I first got these B Types I thought it's a STaSIS setup, but no, it isn't. Took me a good while to find that it's an old Vortreg design, which has since gone out of business: sourcing rotors was therefore a pain. Finally I got hold of a pair of used rotor hats, only that they were too corroded/stressed for my liking. Had to then buy myself some aircraft grade aluminum and have replicas machined. Anyways, at long last, the brakes are on the car: Alcon B Type over Coleman Racing 13x1-1/4" directionally vented rotors, with Carbotech XP8:

I've also upgraded the rears to XP8 pads. For those who don't mind pads that are LOUD, these stop great even when cold (which I can attest) and they're supposed to be able to stand medium track duty quite well (which I have yet to try). The improvement in braking power is nothing short of incredible, but honestly I cannot say how much is due to the BBK and how much the pads. I was quite amused when I was playing with panic braking: going down a rather steep grade at about 105km/h (~65mph), I came to a full ABS stop in such a hurry that by the time I was stationary, my speedometer was reading 40km/h (~25mph)!
Now I just need to adapt to the new stopping behaviour: need to be a lot more delicate with the brake pedal!

Let's see...
I was letting the calipers sit around for maybe a month or so since I didn't think it'd be such an undertaking. Took me 'bout 2 months to sort out what exactly I bought and what exactly I need to make the calipers work, 2+ months to get the calipers rebuilt (evidently Alcon North America doesn't much respond to question from a small shop), 2 months to get the aluminum, 3+ months to get the replica rotor hats (what can I say, I was asking for a favour and thus paid nothing; big thanks to a certain machine shop!), a month in total to get the right rotor rings (was sent some wrong ones)... That brings us to about now

Nice job. I knew you would eventually come up with the right solution. Now....
I really want to come out to Vancouver again to take your Avant for a spin. ;D I bet the road going down the hill from UBC is a blast to take now.

I did.
I was gonna reply after I put the brakes on, so that I can report on how they actually are Install was more eventful than I would've like, which made yesterday very hectic. I'll reply, soon!
