Update on fixing the Glove Box door brake
Here is the update on how i fixed my glove box door after it all of a sudden would fall straight down like a rock instead of gliding down.
I opened the outer side panel of the glove box by using a screw driver in the notch that is available. It justs pops out. Shouldnt have to look hard for it.
That gives you the view of the Door Braking Mechanism. Mine was just hanging in place from the wiring attached to it. Not sure wat the wiring is for...some safety mechanism i think.
My problem was that the plastic Brake mechanism has an attachment to the side of the glove compartment that has 2 tabs that keep it place ...snapped..both
You can see it in this picture if you compare it to the following picture. Its the 2 little tabs sticking out from the top of the circular disc...this is where is attaches to the glove compartment.

I tried to Crazy Glue the little tabs back but didnt work...immediately snapped off when i put it back in place where it fits on the side of the glove compartment.
So i called audi parts in the city ..they had it in stock and picked up the Brake Mechanism for $56 Canadian dollars..part number 8E1 880 324 A (for my 2002 A4 CVT).
Placed it back in the original place. Snapped the wiring back onto the Brake Apparatus...and then adjusted the length of the Apparatus so that it connected back to the glove compartment Hinge. NOTE..there is a little Plastic Pin the threads thru the door hinge and the Brake Apparatus Arms ...luckily i found the pin lying around after i opened the side panel in the beginning. Purchasing the Brake Apparatus does NOT include that little plastic pin... you can see the Head of the Pin in the final pic

Not sure why glove compartment broke. Ive been leaving the door open after my car got broken into few weeks ago.
Well good luck to anyone with the same problem due to the same broken piece.
Heard some dealers charging $400-700 to fix this. That is a total SCAM if the problem was the same as mine. Its really a 10min job..if i needed to do it again.
