Default Pyro and Oil Pressure Gauges

Installed a set of VDO oil and pyrometer gauges the other day in the console ashtray spot. Not a lot of room under the aluminum lid but I managed to modify the tray so that the lid closes when you don't want to view the gauges. I've still got to wire the pyrometer sender (will probably do it if and when I go Stage 3!).

Not a lot of room in the engine bay for the sender and M10x1 t-adapter. The oem sensor is located on the side of the top cover of the oil filter/oil cooler housing facing the firewall. Getting wrenches in there is a PITA. I had to mess with it a bunch to get everything to fit and in a location where I could tighten things down. Had to temporarily remove some misc. piping to get more room.

The "vision series" gauges are not the coolest, but they are reasonably priced and match the existing nighttime ensemble of the dash fairly well. The two dials look great with my boost gauge (mounted to the steering column).

The upper pressure limit hovers around 55 psi on the highway (60 psi upon start up). Idle settles in at 20 psi. Now I can monitor the pressure to guard against the infamous sludge issue ... just a little reassurance and peace of mind.

nice setup; didn't think you could fit anything in the ashtray but looks like you did.

Default there's a lot of dremmeling, but ...

I left enough plastic so the tray stays relatively strong. I actually used small beads of silicone sealant to hold the gauges to the black panel I fabricated from plexi. You have to cut a bit of the tunnel insulation to allow room for the harnesses. Both gauges are powered by the Homelink circuit (I also provided each gauge with their own in-line fuse. The gauge lights run off the headlight switch and dim with the rest of the dash.

Thanks!

Default still haven't put it in yet

I have two sender types ready but I'm not sure which I want to use. There's the weld-in nut type but it involves removing the cat, and the drill and clamp type, that is a little make shift. I may do the latter then change to the former after I put in a high flow cat.

The sensor should really go before the turbo however. Hey, maybe I should go for a PP manifold instead!?

Default the line of sight is not ideal but very readable. I was actually worried ...

that there would be reflected glare during the day from the windshield. I tested different positions and determined that if I angled them more along the line of sight the glare would be bad. Lying flat proved to be better.

They look particularly stunning at night with the red dash lights.
